The Indian Air Force (IAF) Heritage Centre, inaugurated on May 8, 2023, is located in Sector 18, Chandigarh. This 15,600-square-foot facility showcases the rich history and legacy of the IAF.
Key Attractions:
- Aircraft Displays: The centre features five decommissioned aircraft, including a Hindustan Piston Trainer-32, MiG-21, Gnat (Sabre Slayer), and the Air Force Kanpur 1, built in 1958 by Air Vice Marshal Harjinder Singh.
- Simulators: Visitors can experience the thrill of flying through advanced flight simulators, offering a pilot’s perspective of operating iconic IAF aircraft.
- Exhibits: The centre houses artifacts, murals, and 3D dioramas detailing the evolution of the IAF and its participation in various conflicts, including the 1948 Indo-Pak War and the 2019 Balakot airstrike.
- Honoring Women Officers: A dedicated section pays tribute to the contributions of female IAF officers in national service.
